World of Warcraft: Forever’s public beta has been live since mid-September (through October 21) and it's looking great. Launch is still about a month out (November 4, 2026), so these are impressions — not finals.
Outlets and creators mostly agree: familiar Azeroth, denser questing, social campfires, and a packed world — with sharper disagreements on megaservers, faction-locked PvP, and how much Blizzard should change Vanilla. Here’s the roundup so far.
- GamesRadar+ (Jen Allen): https://www.gamesradar.com/games/world-of-warcraft/after-20-hours-with-world-of-warcraft-forever-im-convinced-it-gives-old-school-fans-nearly-everything-they-could-want/ — After ~20 hours, Forever nails Classic spirit with QoL and denser quests; graphics upgrades are nice but not WoW 2.0.
- TechRadar (Alex Whitelock): https://www.techradar.com/gaming/pc-gaming/wow-forever-has-me-excited-but-blizzard-needs-to-tread-carefully-the-player-base-will-be-seriously-split-in-its-current-state — Excited about Classic Plus, but faction-locked PvP megaservers could seriously split friend groups.
- PC Gamer (Harvey Randall): https://www.pcgamer.com/games/world-of-warcraft/world-of-warcraft-forevers-convinced-me-that-we-lost-too-much-to-modern-mmo-quest-design/ — Old quest hubs still deliver satisfaction that retail’s linear breadcrumbs lost.
- PC Gamer (Lincoln Carpenter): https://www.pcgamer.com/games/world-of-warcraft/sometimes-its-fun-to-hit-a-scorpion-with-a-club-for-38-seconds/ — Slow club-vs-scorpion combat makes the “slow MMO” case better than nostalgia alone.
- PC Gamer (Mollie Taylor): https://www.pcgamer.com/games/world-of-warcraft/wow-forever-mentally-broke-me-with-a-boulder/ — Newcomer-friendly charm holds… until gathering and rock-node PvP chaos break you.
- Kotaku (Rebekah Valentine): https://kotaku.com/world-of-warcraft-forever-alternate-universe-worth-exploring-2000733865 — Season of Discovery vibes as its own permanent game; closer to how she wants to play WoW than recent retail.
- Kotaku (Rebekah Valentine): https://kotaku.com/blizzard-world-of-warcraft-forever-torch-hike-2000739020 — Ridiculous cross-continent torch hike shows Forever’s friction and atmosphere are the point.
- IGN (Wesley Yin-Poole): https://me.ign.com/en/world-of-warcraft-forever/248210/as-fans-flood-the-world-of-warcraft-forever-beta-dev-says-its-putting-up-the-craziest-numbers-ive-se — Dev says beta is putting up “craziest numbers” in years for Classic staff; early queues/lag cleared.
- IGN Nordic (Nick Nijland): https://nordic.ign.com/world-of-warcraft-forever/112919/world-of-warcraft-forever-feels-familiar-despite-its-changes-first-impressions — Familiar Classic feel with new content; realmless modes and campfires sell the social pitch.
- Sportskeeda (Jason Parker): https://www.sportskeeda.com/mmo/wow-forever-beta-impressions-is-worth-jump-beta — Beta “100% worth it” for returnees and newcomers, not only Vanilla purists.
- Standard Issue Computing: https://standardissuecomputing.blog/2026/09/19/world-of-warcraft-forever-beta-impressions/ — ~7 hours in: modern Classic polish and quest guidance; likely “forever home” if the pillars hold.
- Wowhead / Taliesin & Evitel: https://www.wowhead.com/news/the-weekly-reset-with-taliesin-and-evitel-forever-383079 — Creators say Forever “looks incredible, plays beautifully, going to be huge.”
