Gaming News Roundup: GTA 6 Radio Stations, Xbox XP Division, Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen & More (Oct 8, 2026)

GTA 6 owns Thursday from both directions. Rockstar officially revealed six of the game's radio stations, and hours earlier the Cyberleek leaker came back with 25 more minutes of footage. Xbox also launched a whole new division for movies, merch and theme parks, Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen and Hellraiser: Revival both arrived, and Arc Raiders' biggest update is live. Here's the Lanbrew gaming roundup for October 8, 2026.

Rockstar reveals six GTA 6 radio stations, plus podcasts you can play on foot

Rockstar added a music section to the official GTA 6 site today with previews of six stations: Cocoteo FM (modern Latin), Back Country Radio (country), AfroBank FM (African music), The Chamber 106.6 (classic metal), Flash FM (pop) and Dirty South Classics (Southern rap). Each preview runs 1 to 3 minutes and mixes DJ chatter with songs, and Kotaku spotted MGMT's "Electric Feel," Slayer's "Raining Blood" and Loretta Lynn in there. For the first time in the series, Jason and Lucia can listen to radio and new on-demand podcasts on foot through headphones connected to their phones. Rockstar says more on the score and the GTA 6 album is coming. With the game out November 19, Australia's Fair Work Ombudsman even posted a tongue-in-cheek guide explaining that wanting to play GTA 6 doesn't give you a right to unpaid leave.

GTA 6 leaker Cyberleek returns with 25 minutes of new footage

After going quiet in late August, the leaker known as Cyberleek posted a 25-minute video from GTA 6. VGC, which has seen it, says it appears to be authentic. It shows the Thrillbilly Mud Club event from the first trailer, a dirt bike race, a car getting customized for a street race, new cutscenes, first-person gameplay, and a lot of nudity. VGC notes a tank spawning out of nowhere, so some of it may have been tampered with. The video ends by asking for money for an unnamed "gaming related" project. Take-Two has already subpoenaed Microsoft, Discord, X and YouTube trying to identify the leaker, so if you want to avoid spoilers, start muting keywords now.

Xbox launches XP, a new division for movies, TV, merch and theme parks

Microsoft's new XP unit has four arms: Xbox Pictures (film and TV), Xbox Products (licensing and merch), Xbox Partnerships (sponsors and brand deals) and Xbox Places (events and theme parks). Mojang president Kayleen Walters, an executive producer on A Minecraft Movie, will run it, and Reddit's former chief product officer Maria Angelidou-Smith takes over Mojang. XP will oversee things like the Fallout TV series, the Minecraft Movie sequel (July 23, 2027) and the Minecraft World attraction opening at the UK's Chessington in 2027. Eurogamer and GamesIndustry.biz both point out that it comes after roughly 3,200 job cuts in Xbox's reset this year.

Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is out, and critics love it

Capcom's $30 expansion is out today on all platforms, alongside the Switch 2 version of the game, which includes the expansion. It adds the snowy region of Norgan, new enemies, a story-heavy questline and an improved character creator. It's sitting at 84 on Metacritic, which is a few points above the original Dark Arisen's 81 back in 2013. Push Square calls it "peak Dragon's Dogma" and "a transformative DLC," and Nintendo Life says the Switch 2 port is in excellent shape. A few reviewers warn that it won't win over people who bounced off the base game.

Hellraiser: Revival arrives to very split reviews

Saber's first-person horror game, with Doug Bradley back as Pinhead, is out today on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2. GamesRadar+ loved it, calling Pinhead's return "glorious" and "a true love letter to the original movies," even if the combat feels weightless. Push Square says it's a faithful adaptation "let down by severe gameplay woes" and a shortage of resources. Eurogamer calls it messy and uneven but earnest. Fair warning: every review says it's extremely gory and sexually explicit.

Quests and milestones now give XP so leveling is faster, stash size goes up to 328 slots, and Solo vs. Squads is gone for now. Polygon says player numbers are already climbing, and the game is free to play until 4am ET on Monday, October 12.

US console sales just had their worst August since 2013

Circana's August report says hardware unit sales fell 15% to 559,000, the lowest August since 2013. Xbox was down 31% and PlayStation 11%, and the average new console now costs $541. Physical game spending is somehow up 5% this year, mostly because spending on Switch 2 game-key cards jumped 631%. NBA 2K27 was August's top seller, followed by Madden NFL 27, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, EA's Kickoff bundle and Star Wars Zero Company. Elden Ring jumped to No. 7 after its Switch 2 release.

Modern Warfare 4 DMZ

Update: Modern Warfare 4's DMZ lets you pay to spawn in a helicopter

Earlier this week's DMZ deep dive left out one detail. The new progression trailer shows five ways to deploy into a match, paid for with in-game DMZ Cash. The free option drops you on foot at a random spot. $5,000 gets you an off-road buggy, $25,000 an armored truck, $50,000 a helicopter, and $100,000 an aircraft that seems to let you pick where you start. The truck and helicopter also need a story mission to unlock, but Eurogamer argues that richer squads will have a big edge in what's supposed to be a fair-start extraction shooter.

The fixes CD Projekt Red promised are out on PC, PS5 and Xbox. It also fixes runaway boats, stamina draining when you sprint and dodge at the same time, and PC picking the wrong GPU. A separate Switch 2 patch to sharpen the blurry image is coming "in the following days."

Update: Capcom says no generative AI in its games after its RE Engine comments

Last week we covered Capcom's talk of turning the RE Engine into an "AI-generation" engine with its REX project. A Capcom spokesperson has now told IGN that it has no plans to use generative AI to make its games. AI in the RE Engine will only be used to speed up development, through better tools, automated code testing and data analysis, and not to create assets. That matches what Capcom told shareholders in March: "We will not implement assets generated by AI into our games."

Google Playground

Google and Unity launch AI game makers, and Unity's CEO says they won't make you Kojima

Google's Playground, now in testing in the US, builds simple games from text prompts and lets you share them with other users. Unity Spark, which is "coming soon," is the more serious tool. It works inside Unity's engine, and Playground users can hand their projects off to it. Unity CEO Matt Bromberg told Game File that Spark isn't about "one-shotting" games: "Asking the AI to reproduce a game that has already been made does not make you [Hideo] Kojima." Spark's tagline is "Prompt it. Perfect it. Publish it." and the demo game, Space Corridor, didn't impress many people.

Sony is selling 419 VR patents to Meta

ZDNet Korea reports that Sony plans to transfer 419 VR-related patents worldwide to Meta, and 43 US patents have already changed hands between June and September. Sony was early to head-mounted displays, and the original PSVR was a hit on PS4, but PS VR2 never got much support from first-party games. Meta is still pushing ahead with its VR Glasses due in 2027. Combined with Sony skipping next year's CES, it's a strong hint that PlayStation is done with VR hardware.

POKEMON SWORD AND SHIELD REVIEW ROUNDUP

The reviews are in before Pokemon Sword and Shield hits stores this Friday. Overall, if you're a huge Pokemon fan, things are looking pretty good. Larger outlets are claiming that while this installment of the Pokemon franchise doesn't innovate as much as they hoped it would, it is still a lot of fun and vastly expands our options for future Pokemon titles. GHOST RECON BREAKPOINT GETS A QOL UPDATE

While most of you have probably heard that Ghost Recon Breakpoint did not launch with great reviews, you may not have heard that Ubisoft has vowed to fix their semi-broken AAA title. That said, and launching today (Nov. 12th), Breakpoint will be receiving a major quality-of-life update that addresses things like stamina, switching firing positions while in cover, and much more. IMPRESSIONS OF THE MANDALORIAN AND ITS ARTWORK (SPOILERS)

The first episode of The Mandalorian has been out for around 24 hours now and we have to say it was amazing! Not only does it perfectly capture why a lot of people fell in love with Star Wars in the first place, but it takes certain story line elements of the franchise in great new directions. Yes, (in typical Star Wars fashion) there were a couple of awkward moments, but overall this new series BLOWS The Last Jedi out of the water and sets a new standard for what all future Star Wars movies and series should aspire to be. Also, If you saw the end credits artwork and thought "I need that," then search no more. Below is a link to where you can download them all: https://imgur.com/a/NCpEVv6   Image credit to Disney.
