Gears of War: E-Day got great reviews, but early sales estimates say Game Pass ate most of the Xbox revenue. Konami says Silent Hill's "second and third waves" are already being planned, and Sonic Racing CrossWorlds' Year 2 lineup now includes Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Persona. Also on Saturday's list: Nintendo says to go ask Rockstar about GTA 6 on Switch 2, Arc Raiders is testing a no-PvP mode next week, Modern Warfare 4 dated DMZ early access, and a lot of Marvel's Wolverine buyers still went physical. Here's the Lanbrew gaming roundup for October 10, 2026.

Gears of War: E-Day reportedly sold just 230,000 copies, while 1.7 million played on Game Pass

Alinea Analytics' Rhys Elliott estimates E-Day sold about 230,000 copies in its first week: 168,000 on Steam and only 62,000 through Xbox on console and PC. Meanwhile, roughly 1.7 million people played it through Game Pass, and around 722,000 of them paid $30 for the Premium upgrade to get five days of early access. Alinea puts total revenue at about $37 million. "The $70 premium SKU is – functionally – dead on Xbox," Elliott said. These are unofficial estimates, and Microsoft hasn't shared any numbers.

Konami is already planning Silent Hill's "second and third waves"

The Silent Hill 2 remake, Silent Hill f and last month's Silent Hill: Townfall are all out, and producer Motoi Okamoto says Konami isn't done. "Successfully launching this 'first wave' comes with great relief, but we're not stopping here; we must think of the second and third waves," he told Famitsu, adding that Konami is "currently looking at a number of projects." He also said convincing his bosses to make more than one game wasn't easy, because "just one remake is not enough." We already know Bloober Team is remaking the original Silent Hill.

Arc Raiders is testing a PvE-only option, and a full split is "possible"

From October 13 to 20, Embark is running a limited test that lets players opt into PvE matchmaking where Raiders can't hurt each other (Night Raids and the upcoming Frigate aren't included). Executive producer Aleksander Grøndal told GamesRadar+ that splitting the game into PvE and PvP is "quite possibly" where things end up: "the community is already split along those lines." Embark's own data says 37% of players are friendly co-op types, 34% are pure PvP, and 51% of surveyed players want a dedicated PvE option.

Rockstar's HR boss grilled over a Discord "mole" at the union-busting tribunal

The case brought by 31 fired Rockstar developers (backed by the IWGB union) continued in Glasgow, where Rockstar Lincoln HR manager Charlie Kinloch was cross-examined. The claimants say an anonymous employee known as "AB" passed him screenshots from a union Discord for about two years, including info suggesting the group was close to the threshold needed for union recognition. Kinloch says he had "little interest" in who was in the union and was focused on leak risk ahead of what he later learned was a major announcement. The firings happened at the end of October 2025, and Rockstar announced GTA 6's delay to November 2026 days later. Rockstar maintains the staff were fired for gross misconduct and leaking.

Skate's devs are fine with mods, just not ones that unlock paid cosmetics

ReSkate, a mod platform that lets you play EA's online-only Skate offline with custom maps, cosmetics and servers, hit 350,000 downloads in a matter of hours. Developer Full Circle responded that it's "not against creativity from players," but "where we have to draw the line is when mods or other tools bypass our systems to unlock paid cosmetics, release gated/unreleased content, or profit from these unauthorized assets." The studio also promised deeper creation tools down the road. For now, nobody's taking action against ReSkate.

The Blood of Dawnwalker (36%) and Onimusha: Way of the Sword (30%) were similar, and Silent Hill: Townfall hit 45% physical on PS5. That's a lot of plastic for a company that plans to stop producing PlayStation discs in January 2028.

POKEMON SWORD AND SHIELD REVIEW ROUNDUP

The reviews are in before Pokemon Sword and Shield hits stores this Friday. Overall, if you're a huge Pokemon fan, things are looking pretty good. Larger outlets are claiming that while this installment of the Pokemon franchise doesn't innovate as much as they hoped it would, it is still a lot of fun and vastly expands our options for future Pokemon titles. IMPRESSIONS OF THE MANDALORIAN AND ITS ARTWORK (SPOILERS)

The first episode of The Mandalorian has been out for around 24 hours now and we have to say it was amazing! Not only does it perfectly capture why a lot of people fell in love with Star Wars in the first place, but it takes certain story line elements of the franchise in great new directions. Yes, (in typical Star Wars fashion) there were a couple of awkward moments, but overall this new series BLOWS The Last Jedi out of the water and sets a new standard for what all future Star Wars movies and series should aspire to be. Also, If you saw the end credits artwork and thought "I need that," then search no more. Below is a link to where you can download them all: https://imgur.com/a/NCpEVv6   Image credit to Disney.
