Gaming News Roundup: Forza Horizon 6 PS5 Delay Report, Xbox Town Hall, Perfect Dark Footage & More (Oct 7, 2026)

Wednesday’s feed is mostly Xbox, in one way or another. Forza Horizon 6’s PS5 version reportedly just slipped into next year, Asha Sharma told staff Xbox is growing again, the GTA 6 streaming story fell apart overnight, and footage from the Perfect Dark reboot Microsoft cancelled finally leaked. Add a likely Ape Escape comeback, full Monster Hunter Rise on phones, and a fan-made Bloodborne port, and it’s a busy one. Here’s the Lanbrew gaming roundup for October 7, 2026.

Forza Horizon 6 on PS5 reportedly slips to January 26, 2027

Dealabs leaker billbil-kun, who has a strong track record, says the PS5 version is now dated for January 26, 2027. That’s despite Playground saying as recently as September that it was still coming “later this year.” The report also says there will be a physical disc release at £59.99 in the UK and €69.99 in Europe, and it expects an official announcement with pre-orders this week. Separately, Playground posted a note telling fans “we haven’t been talking with you as much as we could be.” It says it’s looking at changes to post-launch content and to how it communicates with players.

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma

Xbox town hall: “return to growth,” Game Pass “freefall,” and a Helix family of devices

Windows Central got a transcript of an Xbox town hall where CEO Asha Sharma said that “after an all-time low, we’ve started to return to growth,” and credited Gears of War: E-Day, Minecraft Dungeons II, and WoW: Forever with strong starts. She also reportedly said Xbox’s old Game Pass strategy sent its profitability “into freefall.” On next-gen, she said Project Helix is “a family of devices,” with “a great console first” and something for players “on the go.” She also says Battle.net isn’t turning into Steam after The Witcher 3 showed up there: “We will do it the right way.” GameSpot points out that no hard numbers came with the growth claim, and all of this follows more than 1,800 job cuts this year.

GTA 6 won’t be streaming to PC through Xbox after all

Last night The Verge reported, based on that same all-hands, that Xbox had locked up exclusive cloud streaming rights for GTA 6, which would have let PC players stream it at launch. Hours later, Xbox chief strategy officer Matthew Ball called it “misreporting.” He said Xbox is looking forward to launching GTA 6 on November 19, but “the game will not be streaming exclusively or to PC.” He didn’t rule out cloud streaming on Xbox consoles, so that part is still unclear. If you were hoping for an early PC route, it isn’t happening.

Skydance folds Warner Bros. Games into a new Paramount Games Studio

Now that the $111 billion Paramount/WBD merger has closed, Warner Bros. Interactive is being merged into the new Paramount Games Studio. Tony Driscoll, Skydance’s president of games and experiences, will run it. That puts Avalanche (Hogwarts Legacy), NetherRealm (Mortal Kombat), Rocksteady (Arkham), and TT Games (Lego) under one roof, with DC, Game of Thrones, Star Trek, South Park, and Avatar: The Last Airbender as the IP to work with. Former Activision CEO Bobby Kotick is also on Skydance’s new board. Nobody has said yet what this means for jobs or projects already in development.

Perfect Dark reboot

Footage from the cancelled Perfect Dark reboot leaks

MP1st found a couple of minutes of footage from the Perfect Dark reboot in a VFX artist’s portfolio reel. It shows weapons tested in greybox rooms, more finished levels, a parkour chase through a collapsing factory, and some very detailed fruit getting shot to pieces. The Initiative shut down last year before it shipped anything. Bloomberg later reported that a deal for Take-Two to fund and publish the game fell through. Joanna Dark actress Alix Wilton Regan has said the game was “pretty far along,” and this clip makes that easy to believe.

Ape Escape

Update: the Ape Escape revival reportedly has a developer, and it’s the Sonic Mania team

On Monday we covered vague talk of Sony reviving old PlayStation series. Now there’s a name attached. Jeff Gerstmann said on his show that he heard Evening Star (the Sonic Mania folks behind Penny’s Big Breakaway) is making a new Ape Escape, and VGC says its own sources agree. It’s reportedly an external, licensed project, much like Bandai Namco’s Everybody’s Golf: Hot Shots, and it isn’t close to release. VGC also hears a Killzone remaster or remake is in early development. Sony hasn’t commented. The last core Ape Escape game was Ape Escape 3 in 2005.

Monster Hunter Rise on mobile

The full Monster Hunter Rise is coming to iOS and Android through Netflix

New App Store and Google Play listings show Monster Hunter Rise soft-launching on phones. It runs natively on the device, but you need a Netflix membership to play. There are a few minor changes from the console and PC versions, and touch controls are the big question mark. The timing is odd: it came a day after Capcom said Rise passed 20 million sales, and only weeks before Tencent’s gacha survival spinoff Monster Hunter Outlanders arrives on mobile on October 29.

Resident Evil Requiem

Resident Evil Requiem’s writer lets slip what the DLC is about

Speaking at Meadowlark Comic Con, Requiem writer Haris Orkin said Umbrella co-founder Oswell E. Spencer’s story continues in the upcoming expansion. “We have an arc for Spencer in Requiem, you kind of understand that more, and then in the DLC you’ll understand it even further,” he said, then added, “I probably shouldn’t say that, but yeah!” Capcom confirmed a big story expansion earlier this year but hasn’t given a date. Leaker Dusk Golem has claimed the Spencer Mansion was once planned for Requiem, so DLC would be a logical place for it.

Bloodborne

Bloodborne (image via DSOGaming / FromSoftware)

A fan-made Bloodborne port runs the game’s own code natively on PC

bbport, an open-source project from developer deadinside28, runs the PS4 executable of Bloodborne v1.09 directly on an x86-64 PC. A small custom runtime stands in for the PS4 system libraries, and a heavily extended shadPS4-derived renderer translates the graphics to Vulkan. You get unlocked frame rates, 30/60/90fps modes, FSR 3.1/4/4.1.1 upscaling, and a Steam Deck AppImage. Some outlets say it runs on Windows too, but the project’s own README calls it a Linux port. It’s also labeled experimental: no full playthrough has been verified, it ships no game files (you need your own dump), and it has no ties to Sony or FromSoftware. It’s still the closest Bloodborne has come to PC.

RuneScape

Update: Jagex apologizes and goes back to the drawing board on RuneScape Reignited

On Sunday we mentioned that the Reignited fresh-start servers got a mixed reaction at RuneFest. It turned into a full revolt, including players posting screenshots of cancelled memberships. Jagex has now posted “We are re-evaluating RuneScape Reignited” and apologized: “We have made you, as existing players, feel like you are no longer our focus.” It still thinks a fresh economy is a big draw for new and returning players, but it’s exploring “a heavy set of revisions,” including more ways for veterans’ progress and legacy to count.

Overwatch Cassidy

Overwatch Season 5: Sombra is a healer now, and the Cassidy/Jetpack Cat combo is gone

The new season adds hero Doctrine, reworks Roadhog, and kicks off the last chapter of Blizzard’s year-long story arc. The big change is Sombra, who moves to Support. Hack is replaced by Hotfix, a quick heal-over-time, and her Translocator doesn’t go as far. Kotaku was skeptical going in but says she’s the most fun she’s been in over a year. The balance patch also means Cassidy now detaches from Jetpack Cat’s tether when he uses High Noon. Blizzard says that pairing had “proven too powerful.”

Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire

Pokémon HOME adds FireRed and LeafGreen, and fans think Ruby and Sapphire are next

Pokémon HOME version 4.1.0 is out, and you can now move monsters from the Switch versions of FireRed and LeafGreen into HOME and on to newer games. It’s one-way, so they can’t go back. Fans noticed the new menu button just says “GBA games” rather than naming FireRed and LeafGreen, and they’re reading that as a sign Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald are coming. That follows a suspiciously sharp 30-second Ruby/Sapphire clip from an official Japanese account last month. It could just be a shorter label, but a lot of people want it to mean more.

Battlefield 6 Dead Space Marker tease

Battlefield 6 Season 5 trailer (image via IGN / EA)

Battlefield 6 Season 5 teases a Dead Space crossover

The Season 5 trailer is mostly choppers wrecking casinos on the new Vegas Strip map. Then the music cuts out and two Dead Space engineers stare up at the Marker. Redditors had already found what look like Dead Space skins, rumored for the Halloween update. That’s a bit awkward, since DICE said Battlefield 6 wouldn’t do immersion-breaking cosmetics. The season brings three new maps (including Vegas Strip and Area 51), six weapons, and two vehicles, and Vegas goes live October 13. A real Dead Space 4 still looks unlikely, since series writer Chuck Beaver says it would need to sell 10 million or more.

Elden Ring boss Malenia

Elden Ring’s Malenia, the kind of boss nobody wants adapting in real time (image via GamesRadar+ / FromSoftware)

Sony patents AI-adapted NPCs that learn from your play

A newly published Sony patent, “AI-adapted non-player character for video game system,” describes using data from players to change NPCs, anywhere from how they look to how they fight. GamesRadar+ points out that this could mean a boss that changes its moves in real time depending on how you deal with them. Sony’s pitch is more lifelike NPCs without endless scripting and bigger budgets. As always with patents, there’s no guarantee it ends up in a PS5 or PS6 game.

Denuvo wants Discord, Valve, and Reddit to unmask a prolific cracker

Last month Denuvo sued “voices38,” who it says has cracked its DRM on nearly 30 games. The complaint lists 26, including Resident Evil Requiem, Stellar Blade, Black Myth: Wukong, 007 First Light, Pragmata, Hogwarts Legacy, and Doom: The Dark Ages. Now it’s asking a Northern California federal court for permission to subpoena Discord, Valve, and Reddit to find out who they are. According to the filing, Discord didn’t respond, and Valve and Reddit said they’d need legal process before handing anything over.

POKEMON SWORD AND SHIELD REVIEW ROUNDUP

The reviews are in before Pokemon Sword and Shield hits stores this Friday. Overall, if you're a huge Pokemon fan, things are looking pretty good. Larger outlets are claiming that while this installment of the Pokemon franchise doesn't innovate as much as they hoped it would, it is still a lot of fun and vastly expands our options for future Pokemon titles. GHOST RECON BREAKPOINT GETS A QOL UPDATE

While most of you have probably heard that Ghost Recon Breakpoint did not launch with great reviews, you may not have heard that Ubisoft has vowed to fix their semi-broken AAA title. That said, and launching today (Nov. 12th), Breakpoint will be receiving a major quality-of-life update that addresses things like stamina, switching firing positions while in cover, and much more. IMPRESSIONS OF THE MANDALORIAN AND ITS ARTWORK (SPOILERS)

The first episode of The Mandalorian has been out for around 24 hours now and we have to say it was amazing! Not only does it perfectly capture why a lot of people fell in love with Star Wars in the first place, but it takes certain story line elements of the franchise in great new directions. Yes, (in typical Star Wars fashion) there were a couple of awkward moments, but overall this new series BLOWS The Last Jedi out of the water and sets a new standard for what all future Star Wars movies and series should aspire to be. Also, If you saw the end credits artwork and thought "I need that," then search no more. Below is a link to where you can download them all: https://imgur.com/a/NCpEVv6   Image credit to Disney.
