Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave Review Roundup

We're late on this one (it launched September 17, before Lanbrew's daily roundups got rolling), but Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is too big to skip. Intelligent Systems' Nintendo Switch 2 strategy RPG sends you back in time from an undead apocalypse to the Heroic Games of 1449, where you follow four heroes, Cai, Leda, Dietrich and Theodora, each with their own story path, recruits and battles, before everything comes together in a shared finale. Critics are close to unanimous: the tactical battles are being called the best the series has ever had, and the sheer amount of content is staggering (reviewers clocked 80 to 100+ hours). The common complaints are a single save slot, grindy support-building and side content between fights, a weak dungeon Clash battle system, and pacing that slips late. But the consensus is that this is one of the best Fire Emblem games ever made.

One note before you dive in: Giant Bomb, which still liked it, flagged the writing as the game's major weak spot ("vacuous writing -- and lots of it"), and Eurogamer and Destructoid both warn that the opening (a big exposition dump and slow tutorial battles) is a tough onboarding. Push through and, by most accounts, you've got months of tactics ahead of you.

POKEMON SWORD AND SHIELD REVIEW ROUNDUP

The reviews are in before Pokemon Sword and Shield hits stores this Friday. Overall, if you're a huge Pokemon fan, things are looking pretty good. Larger outlets are claiming that while this installment of the Pokemon franchise doesn't innovate as much as they hoped it would, it is still a lot of fun and vastly expands our options for future Pokemon titles. GHOST RECON BREAKPOINT GETS A QOL UPDATE

While most of you have probably heard that Ghost Recon Breakpoint did not launch with great reviews, you may not have heard that Ubisoft has vowed to fix their semi-broken AAA title. That said, and launching today (Nov. 12th), Breakpoint will be receiving a major quality-of-life update that addresses things like stamina, switching firing positions while in cover, and much more. IMPRESSIONS OF THE MANDALORIAN AND ITS ARTWORK (SPOILERS)

The first episode of The Mandalorian has been out for around 24 hours now and we have to say it was amazing! Not only does it perfectly capture why a lot of people fell in love with Star Wars in the first place, but it takes certain story line elements of the franchise in great new directions. Yes, (in typical Star Wars fashion) there were a couple of awkward moments, but overall this new series BLOWS The Last Jedi out of the water and sets a new standard for what all future Star Wars movies and series should aspire to be. Also, If you saw the end credits artwork and thought "I need that," then search no more. Below is a link to where you can download them all: https://imgur.com/a/NCpEVv6   Image credit to Disney.
