I will never use eBay ever again. The people on there are some of the most ignorant people I have ever come across.
So here is the story. I posted my Xbox 360 Elite on eBay with 3 games for 400.00 dollars. I also posted this item on Facebook, and Craigslist. No one was bidding on the item on eBay, because everyone waits until time is almost up on the item, and it sold on craigslist.
The same day (May 2) that the item sold, I removed it from Facebook. Also, I didn’t want to mess with eBay so I just changed the item title to “ITEM SOLD” and the description to “THIS ITEM IS NOT FOR SALE. DO NOT BID.” I also changed the bid price to .99 (from 400) and the shipping to 1.00. I thought ‘why would people bid on an item that has a title of item sold?’ Oh god I was wrong.
May 3 - The time started running out and I started receiving email after email asking if the item was still up for bid and “what is wrong with the item being sold?” I know it’s a lot for a person to comprehend, but when an item has a title of “ITEM SOLD”, I would usually assume that the item was sold and not for sale.
And then the unthinkable, or from my opinion of eBay users now, the expected, happened. People started having a bid war on eBay for my “ITEM SOLD” item that had a pretty picture of an Xbox Elite from Google. I couldn’t believe it.
But wait, it gets better. I am sure you have come to the logical conclusion of what happens to wars. They come to an end and usually there is someone who is the winner. Well I don’t know if I would call this person a winner, but they did win my item that was “NOT FOR SALE. DO NOT BID.” AND THEN, because I was at work, they sent my pay pal account 111.00 dollars without waiting for a response from me on how stupid they were for bidding on the “ITEM SOLD” item.
That isn’t the end of the story though. I am now, meaning in the time line of the story, sitting there with 107.48 in my pay pal account. Now if you have passed high school then I am sure that you noticed something about that statement. What I have stated means that I had NO money in my account before this money was deposited and there was also some type of fee for the transfer of funds…3.52 to be exact.
So here is where I am now. I sent the person their money back. All 107.48 of it. But am I seriously supposed to be responsible for the ignorance of this person?! Am I seriously supposed to transfer money from my bank account, that is coming out of my pocket because pay pal got the 3.52, to my pay pal to pay this person back for their lack of common sense or perception?!
I say too bad. Kick me off eBay. I really don’t give a shit. I won’t be using it ever again anyway, so what is the point? You know what, the point is that you can list ANYTHING, titled ANYTHING, and people will bid on it if you put it in the right category. EBay, you can keep your sheep. Craigslist, in its simplicity, is a far better service then you could ever dream of offering.
